Clark Seals birthdate given as 13 Mar[1]
1850 census states he is "4/12" old on 1 November 1850 which suggests a July 1850 birth
Born "Jan 1850 in Alabama," USA, is given in the 1900 census.[2]
Headstone gives the year as 1851.
Death certificate names his father as “Danlton Seale”, mother as “Bettie Kelly”. [3]

In 1870 Clark was enumerated with his parents - 3 households away were Mary Corder and her son George, age 4.
Mary Pilant had first married John Corder, 22 Feb 1865, in Lincoln County, Tennessee.[6] Clark moved from Alabama to Texas ca. 1895, when “Charles Henry was 17 or 18 years old.”[7]
Surname spelling: (The death certificate and headstone for Clark Seals record the "Seals" spelling but subsequent generations have used "Seale" - son Charles Henry Seale used that spelling in 1930 census, WWII draft card, and Social Security application, death certificate and headstone - his own death certificate spells Clark's name "Seale" as well. RHSeale)
Clark Seals died 9 Dec 1927 in Limestone county, Texas. His TX death certificate states he was b. “1859” father “Daniel Seals” mother, “Bettie Kelly” and was 68 y 8m and ?days old.[8]
He is buried in Tidwell Cemetery, Thornton, Limestone, Texas, USA, plot cc-12. His headstone only adds to his birthdate confusion, given as 1851.[9]
