According to family history passed down and reported by Sexta Eavenson Strickland, "Eli Eavenson, his wife (Rachel), George and 2 daughters came to Georgia from Virginia in a covered wagon, crossing the James River on ice".[3]
Rachel Seal Eavenson died sometime in 1830 in Elbert County, Georgia and is buried at Concord Methodist Church.
