Caleen was born in 1952. She was the daughter of Ronald Searle and Lela Jorgensen. She passed away in 2015.
Caleen Oglesby, 63, of Salida died July 6, 2015, at her home following a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). She was born May 27, 1952, in Vernal, Utah, to Ron and Lela (Jorgensen) Searle. She grew up in the Vernal area until she was 8 years old. She moved to Hotchkiss and graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1970. She attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction and received an associate degree in business. During that time she met and married Jim Oglesby of Crawford. They were married Jan. 11, 1975, in Paonia. The couple had three children. In 1989 the family moved to Salida, where she lived until her death. Mrs. Oglesby worked in a bank for the first few years after marriage and then was mostly a stay-at-home mom. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends and family said her main passion outside of her family was her service in the church. She served in several callings throughout her life, but her main interest was in genealogy and family history work. She served as director of the Salida LDS Family History Center for many years. Mrs. Oglesby was preceded in death by her sister, Ronda Canterberry, and her mother. Survivors include her husband; her father of Paonia; her children, Tyna Oglesby of Mount Vernon, Ind., Heather (Jason) Swartz of Charleston, S.C., and Ron Oglesby of Salida; brothers, Riley Searle of Castle Rock, Leland Searle of Yuma, Ariz., and Karl Searle of Fruita; and eight grandchildren. Her funeral services will be at 2 p.m. July 11, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1140 Poncha Blvd., with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association at alsco.org.
