Cordelia (Searles) Howland was born on 13 Jul 1830 in Carthage, Franklin, Maine, daughter of David Chandler Searles (1801 - 1849) and Ruth (Carter) Welch (1807 - 1878).

Cordelia married Joseph N. Howland (1825 - 1907) on 27 Mar 1845^[1] in Weld, Franklin, Maine. They were the parents of eleven known children:
