Allen was born in 1760. He is the son of Thomas Sears.

The Descendants of Richard Sares (Sears) of Yarmouth, Mass., 1638-1888Page 268, No 727 Allen Sears was in Capt Abial Pierce's Co, in Col Dike's Regt, 20 Aug 1776, 120 miles' travel; in Capt Sam'l Briggs' Co, Col Thomas Collins' Regt, 29 Sep 1777, at Tiverton, RI, 32 days' service, £1.1.4; in Capt John Barrows' Co, Col Abijah Sterne's Regt, 4 Apr to 2 Jul 1778, 2 mos 21 days, £5.8.0 Service at or near Boston, 2 days allowed to travel home; in Lt John Doty's Co, Col Eben Sproul's Regt, alarm at Dartmouth, 5-11 Sep 1778; also 1-7 May 1776, 6 days, £1.12.0; was in Capt Wm Tupper's Co, Col Titcomb's Regt, expedition to RI, 65 days under Maj Gen Spencer, £4.6.8 "Allen Sears of Rochester, age 19, 5 ft 6 in height, light complexion," arrived at Springfield, 8 Jul 1780; then went to reinforce Northern Army, near Lake George; served 6 Jul to 18 Dec 1780, 5 mos 14 days, and 240 miles' travel, L12.2.10. After the war he removed to Portage, Allegany co, NY (now Livingston co), and in the census of 1840 is set down as a Revolutionary pensioner, and living with Nath'l Rathbun.  !
