Biography

Mary (Molly) Sears, was born in North Carolina, 13 Feb 1776. Her parents are identified on Page 137 of book, "Genealogy of the Wright Family, Descendants of Richard Wright, Sr., by Lillie White 1943" - as Christian Sears, born about 1753 in Rowan County, NC. Later research shows her mother was Barbara Stutzman. [She was/is seen as 'Catherine' especially in above mentioned book - and in some other research, but it is in error.] They were the parents of six children: Jacob Mary (Molly)-m. Philbert Wright [1768-1855] Sarah Elizabeth [m. James Wright, nephew of Philbert] David John

All children were born in Rowan County, North Carolina. In her father's will, Mary [Molly] is referred to as 'Polly Wright'.

At the age of 17, in 1793, Mary married Philbert Wright, the youngest son of Richard Wright, in Rowan County.

Their 12 children are 'linked' below. One child often mentioned as 'son' is a Philbert Wright, b. 1802. That is untrue. Philbert never had a 'Philbert, Jr.' as attested by Philbert 1768's will. All 12 children are mention by name.
