Philip was born in 1759. He was the son of David Sears and Mary Paddock. He passed away in 1831.

Voted, John Whitlock, Ephraim Smith, David Sears, Philip Sears and Edward Martingale are dangerous to the United States of America, etc. (Town Rec) He was a farmer Birth: 1759, USA Death: Jul. 16, 1831 Lenox Berkshire County Massachusetts, USA Son of David Sears and Mary Paddock; married Lavina Gunn in Lenox in 1798. Philip Sears apparently saw some service in the Revolutionary War, but it is not clear how much time he spent actually fighting. Genealogical research has his rank as corporal, but he is listed in the records of New Lenox Cemetery as captain. He was a farmer. He and Lavina had two children, Chauncy Sears and Laura D. Sears.
