Philip Sears apparently saw some service in the Revolutionary War, but it is not clear how much time he spent actually fighting. Genealogical research has his rank as corporal, but he is listed in the records of New Lenox Cemetery as captain. He was a farmer. He and Lavina had two children, Chauncy Sears and Laura D. Sears.
