Biography

1776 Project
Private Fulkard Sebring served with Bucks County Militia, Pennsylvania Militia during the American Revolution.

Fulkard Sebring was born 1745 near New Brunswick, New Jersey, son of Johannes (John) Seabring (1702-73) and Petronella Auten. He removed to Pennsylvania where he served as a private in the American Revolution as a member of the Bucks County Militia.

After 1810 he moved his family to Genoa Township, Delaware County, Ohio where he died in 1822 and was buried in a poorly or unmarked grave in Red Bank Cemetery. Nearly every grave in the cemetery traces their lineage to Fulkard. Years later, his remains were accidently uncovered while a grave was being dug for his grandson, George Washington Sebring who lived 1819 to 1908. Fulkard's remains were attired in his soldier's uniform. The grave was later marked by the Delaware County Chapter D.A.R. with a bronze plaque.
