He was baptised on 17 November 1876 at St Philip's church, Hulme, Manchester.^[2]

He married Gertrude Wild in 1901. Their marriage was registered in Bucklow, Cheshire. ^[3]

In 1911 he was living at 10 Ellesmere Street, Northenden, Cheshire. ^[4]

He fought in the First World War in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. ^[5]

In 1939 he was living in Elmfield, Manchester. He was a newsagents packer. ^[6]
