Biography

Delia was born in 1790. She was a daughter of William Sedgwick and Lucy Merrill.[1][2] She was born and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut. She married Simon Dow Jenness in 1810 in West Hartford. [3] They had seven children between 1811 and 1834:

  1. John Sedgwick Jenness (1811-1885), m. 1836 Martha Jane Clark, m. 1850 Lucy #Jane Moore, m. 1864 Emma A Ellis
  2. Delia E. Jenness (1814-1896), m. 1834 Thomas P Durant
  3. Lucy Merrill Jenness (1816-1901), m. 1842 John Smith Jenness
  4. Anna E. Jenness (1819-1838)
  5. Martha Jane Jenness (1822-1899), m. Abt 1840 Cyrus L Ashcroft, m. 1866 William Young
  6. Ellen Gertrude Jenness (1831-1900), m. abt 1859 Addison Ray Stone
  7. Simon Bolivar Jenness (1834-1900), m. 1863 Martha G Johnson, m. 1890 Alice M. Storer

After her husband Simon passed away in 1841, she moved to Detroit, Michigan and lived with her son John.[4][5] Delia passed away in Michigan in 1871 at the age of 81.[6]
