August's age is not mentioned in the 1865, 1877, or 1878 letters. From the comment about daughter Minna being at home helping her mother, it can be assumed that his wife is still alive in 1878. He is apparently less well off financially than Christoph, as their father's will stipulates that he pay a considerably smaller amount towards the inheritance that their sister Hanna receives than Christoph is required to pay. The letter of 1878 gives information on his children as follows: Karl, living in Schonfeld near Leipzig is a cabinetmaker. Ferdinant, is in Turgau (possibly Turkey) as a soldier. Emilie, living in the 'parish' at Radgenstadt. Minna, age 15 at home helping her mother. Otto, 10 years old.[3]
