I have been researching my family history since 2010 when an ancestry.com commercial caught my attention. It all started with a free trial and then I was hooked. It wasn't about collecting names for my tree but finding out the stories that went with the names. Genealogy has become a passion of mine and I can usually be found in my office in front of the computer with my Legacy database open and lots of tabs open on the other monitor looking for the stories of my ancestors.
Most of my ancestors are from Pennsylvania and concentrated in Columbia, Montour, and Luzerne counties.
Some of my surnames include Seigfreid (Siegfried), Thomas, Killian, Hunter, Houseknecht, Minnich, Halderman, Hartman, Welsh, Allabach, McHenry, Rutan, Lewis, Masteller, and Shellhammer.
I blog about my family and Legacy family tree at Our Life Picture by Picture.
You can email me at email@example.com with any questions or if you think we might be related.
Have fun growing your family tree!!

Thanks for your interest in the Thomas Name Study. If you want to look at the page, go to projects, then click on One Name Studies, then click on the index page in the second line to search for the Thomas Name Study ( there must be an easier way but I haven't worked it out yet). You'll see that it's early days with the Study, so plenty of scope if you decided to get involved, especially being such a common surname. Gillian

Houseknecht-56 - Gertrude Marie (Houseknecht) Budgeon (1906 - 1958) is a daughter of Houseknecht-34 - Ario W. Houseknecht (1879 - 1950) and Amanda Banks. Could you please add that? Thank you!

Thank you for helping grow our collective family tree!
As a reminder, when you are creating or editing profiles for people born in 1700 or earlier, quality sources need to be added. (I was looking at Johann Appel Apple.) Please take a look back at the Pre-1700 quiz and you will see the recommendations. Here is a link to it: http://www.wikitree.com/quiz/pre_1700
I was also wondering about Johann's last name at birth - is it Appel Apple? If it is uncertain what his last name is, it would be best to include the alternate names in the Other Last Name field. You can enter multiple names, separated with commas, and then people can find the profile with any of the names.
Have a great day!
