Biography

Ellen was born in 1852, the daughter of Robert Self, and Jane Nichol.

Marriage

William J. Moore, 26, residing and born in Beverly, bachelor, farmer, son of Calvin and Mary Moore, married

Ellen Self, 19, residing and born in Beverly, spinster, daughter of Robert and Jane Self,

Witnesses: Robert Stockwell, and Sarah Stockwell, both of Beverly,

On November 9, 1870, in the Township of Beverly, Wentworth County, Ontario.

Children

W. J. and Ellen welcomed their first child, Mary Jane, in May 1872. Unfortunately, the baby was born with hydrocephalus, and passed away at the age of 9 months. A year later, Ellen gave birth to Edwin Russell. Tragically, his lifespan was even shorter, after contracting consumption (tuberculosis), he died later that same year at the age of six months. Sarah Jane was born in 1877.

Only Sarah Jane survived childhood and married. She, too, would suffer the same fate as her parents. Of her three boys, only one survived to adulthood.

Death

Ellen Moore died on February 11, 1935, at 39 Waterloo Street West, Guelph, Ontario. She was born in Ontario on January 29, 1852, the daughter of Robert Self, born in England, and Jane Nichol, born in Scotland. She was the widow of Jackson Moore. The informant on the record was her daughter, Mrs. J.P. Hammill, of the same address.

She was buried at Mountview Cemetery in Cambridge, Ontario.
