Obituary from FindAGrave.com "Douglas Vearl Sellars was born Jan. 1, 1936 in Shelley, to Chase and Mary Sellars in Idaho Falls. He was the first of 12 children. He attended Shelley High School where he was on the boxing team, earning a college scholarship in that sport.

"He served in the U.S. Army for three years. He graduated with an undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University and a graduate degree from Texas Tech. He was a Golden Glove, Army, and collegiate boxer and a real singing cowboy who rode broncs and bulls and loved the rodeo.

"He married his college sweetheart, Virginia Harris Sellars in Oklahoma. Doug always said, "First I crowned her Queen of the Rodeo, then I crowned her Queen of My Life." They were married for 52 years until she went to Heaven on Nov. 26, 2011.

"They have one daughter, Debra (Keith) Buchanan of Rockwall. They have two grandchildren who were the joy of their lives - Blake and Brooke. Blake and his wife, Christina, and their son, Caden, live in Florida. Brooke lives in Irving, Texas. Doug felt so blessed to have met and spent quality time with his great-grandson.

"Doug loved music. He sang and played the banjo and guitar.

"Doug worked for over 30 years with the Soil Conservation Service, in the Department of Agriculture. Doug and his family were recently able to spend quality time together in the Bahamas, memories his family will cherish. The things that most defined Doug were his relationship with his Lord Jesus Christ and his family. Well done Doug! Happy Trails Cowboy.

"His remaining siblings include Carolyn Arnsberger of Ririe, Rodger (Marie) Sellars and Arden (Pat) Sellars, both of Shelley, Mike (Julie) Sellars of Ammon, Cathy of Washington, Jeff (Monica) of San Jose, Calif., Michelle (Bill) of Dublin, Calif., and Debra Ann (Tom) of Litchfield Park, Ariz.

"He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Brent, Gary and Rodney; a sister, Mona Garcia; and a neice, Melissa. All except his mother are buried in Woodville.

"In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Douglas Sellars to The Stan Shannon Scholarship Fund at Quest Academy, Rockwall ISD, 1050 Williams Street, Rockwall, TX 75087. Phone 972-772-2077."
