Biography

Frederick was born in 1904. He was the son of Harry Seller and Francis M Johnston. He passed away in 1997. ^[1]

There has been five generations of the Seller family active in the N.S.W. building industry—a record probably unequalled in the history of Australia. Master Builder Fred. C. Seller, of Collaroy, represents the fourth generation, his nephew, Brian, now working for I Seller Bros. Pty. Ltd. is the fifth generation. Fred, was born in Grafton, N.S.W., and is a descendant of the original Sellers, who was Superintendent of Works at Norfolk Island in the old convict days. On his retirement he received a grant of land and came to Sydney, where his son started in the building trade. This son later became the father of eight boys, who were all trained as carpenters. H. Seller, Sen., after doing important contract work, became Government Senior Inspector in the N.S.W. Railways Construction Branch, where he served for 24 years. Fred. Seller and his brother Christopher formed a building partnership, which was registered in 1927 as Seller Bros. Pty. Ltd. Today the brothers are, still as active as ever. Fred was a foundation member of the Manly-Warringah Branch when it was formed 15 years ago. He has served as President for two years, Vice-President (two years) and delegate to the M.B.A. for seven years. The firm is occupied full time on construction of factories, flats and cottages. It has built 10 blocks of flats in Manly. Fred's favourite hobby is fishing in his 32ft. boat. Brian, his nephew, is employed by the firm and is carrying on the family traditions. A student of North Sydney Technical College, he was first in the First Year Building Construction Course, and first in the Fourth Year course. He is now a junior member of Seller Bros. Pty. Ltd.[1]
