Research Notes

  • These two comments represent a discrepancy -- were there two William Shipleys, or did he marry twice?
    • This William Shipley married Rebecca Ogg, daughter of George Ogg. There is no record of him marrying a Rebecca Selman. Further research is needed. [3]
    • "Anne (Powell) and Benjamin Lawrence Selman's children; Rebecca Selman married William Shipley Sr. in 1753 in Stafford County, Virginia."[4]
