Biography

Barbara (Sempill) Lamont is a member of Clan Sempill.

Barbara was the daughter of Robert Sempill and Agnes Montgomerie.^[1] She married Sir Colin Lamont of that Ilk.^[1][2] They had at least three daughters:

1. Jean, m. John Buchanan of Lenie in 1666^[2]
2. Giles, m. Alexander M'Millan of Dunmore in 1667^[2]
3. Grizel, m. Archibald Buchanan of Torie in 1673^[2]

Although some claim there was another daughter and three sons.^[1]

Research Notes

Barbara's parents were married on 11 Sep 1583 so Barbara was born after Jun 1584. Her mother died before Nov 1601 so she was certainly born prior to that date. Her marriage to Coll Lamont was 19 Jan 1610 so one can say she was born before 19 Jan 1598. This resolves to approximately Dec 1590 +/- 7 years.
