Jean Senelé migrated from France to New France.

Jean Senelé married Renée Jousselot on 29 Jan 1674 in Notre-Dame de Québec. ^{[1] [2]} Her father was present at her wedding, her mother was already deceased. his parents were listed as Pierre Senelé and Marie Proue, both already deceased, with his origin given as PAROISSE DE COUE, EVECHE DE POITIERS

They had at least 4 children, those known being as follows:

1. Louise, born c 1677, married René Émond around 1697, died 25 Jan 1703, @ 26 years (appears to have been listed as Anne, 4 years old on 1681 census)
2. Jacques, born 29 Dec 1679, bapt 3 Jan 1680 Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade
3. Marie Madeleine, born 6 Feb 1684, bapt 18 Feb Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade (mother recorded as Rousselot rather than Jousselot); died and buried 1 Dec 1687 in Québec (ND) @ 4 years
4. Marie Louise, born 9 Jul 1686, bapt 10 Jul Batiscan, (mother listed as Rousselin), (too young to have married René Émond)^[3]

Recensement 1681 Census: Sainte-Anne (-de-la-Pérade)

Jean Cenelle 50 ; Marie-(Renée) Jousselot, sa femme, 28 ; enfants : Anne 4, Jacques 2 ; 2 bêtes à cornes ; 4 arpents en valeur.^[4]

Marie Renée died 5 Nov 1720, being buried on the 6th in Québec city (Notre-Dame), she had died of unstated illness, and was given the approximate age of 60, being a widow.^[5]

Marie-Renée est née vers 1653 et elle épouse en 1674 Jean Senelé/Senelle dit Laprairie, originaire du Poitou. Il loue une terre pour 3 ans à Neuville. En 1680, on le retrouve à Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade où il s’associe pour la traite des fourrures. Ce commerce ne lui a sans doute peu rapporté puisqu’à maintes reprises, on lui réclame des montants d’argent si bien que, décédé, sa veuve doit vendre la terre de Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade pour divers engagements financiers de son mari. Elle meurt à Québec, en 1720, probablement hébergée par sa soeur Anne. Son mari l’avait précédée dans la tombe en 1688.^[6]

Marie Renée was born around 1653 and she married Jean Senelé/Senelle called Laprairie, from Poitou. He rents land for 3 years in Neuville. In 1680 we find him in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade where he enters an association for the fur trade. This commerce appears to have brought him very little as on many occasions, he gets dunned for various monies, to the point that, dead, his wife has to sell the land of Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade to settle various debts of her husband. She dies in Québec city in 1720, probably staying with her sister Anne. Her husband had preceded her in the grave in 1688.
