Lloyd, son of Edwin Washington Senft and Lamanda K. Ziegler,^[1] was born 3 March 1903 in North Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania.^[1][2]

Eight-year-old Lloyd Serenus "Smokey" resided in 1910 on the farm in North Codorus Township owned by his parents Edwin W. (age 46, farmer) and Lamanda Senft (45, mother of 16, 15 living (she was pregnant with the 17th child)).^[3] Domiciled with them were his siblings Isaac Henry (21, brick yard worker), Flora Celesta (18, paper mill worker), Melvin Francis (16), Francis Eugene "Clint" (15), Mabel Estella (9), Carrie Edna (5), Naomi Henrietta (4), Nettie Viola (1) and her twin Vernia Edgar "Vernie" (1).^[3]

In 1920, the household in North Codorus Township enveloped Edward W. (age 56, farmer), Lamanda (53), Melvin F. (25, weaver at the silk factory), Francis E. (24, silk factory weaver), William R. (21, silk factory worker), Loyd S. (17, silk factory worker), Carrie E. (18), Naomi H. (16), Viola N. (14) and Vernia E. (14).^[4]

On 27 June 1925 at Saint Peter's (Lischey's) Church in North Codorus Township, he married Lucy Mae Senft,^[5] daughter of James Henry Senft and Louisa Jane Hosler.^[6] They had ten children, including:^[7][8][9]

Lloyd S. (age 26, silk mill mechanic) and Lucy E. Senft (26) settled in North Codorus Township, where in 1930 they rented a home for themselves and their children Dora (4), Tyrus (2) and a seven-month-old.^[8] In 1940, Lloyd S. (age 37, loom fixer at silk mill) and Lucy M. Senft (36) continued to rent a home in Stoverstown, which they shared with their children Doris R. (14), Tyrus R. (12), Lucy J. (7) and living children aged 10, 9, 6, 3, and 1.^[9] Lucy and Lloyd each had completed eight years of formal education.^[9]

Lloyd worked for Simone Textile Company in Allentown for 37 years.^[7] He was a member of St. Peter's (Lischey's) United Church of Christ and the Nashville, Topton, and Pennsburg volunteer fire companies. ^[7] Lloyd was a life member of Owls Nest 1302 in Allentown.^[7]

Lloyd died 19 December 1981 at York Hospital in York, York County,^[2][7] and was buried 22 December 1981 at Marburg Memorial Gardens in Penn Township, York County.^[7]
