Biography

Richard James Sennett was born on 12 Feb 1882 at Meddybemps, Washington, Maine, the seventh child of John Sennett and Lizzie McGlauflin. Both parents were born in St. Davis, New Brunswick. Mrs. Nettie M. Card?, of Meddybemps, reported the birth on 30 Sept 1940.[1]

In 1900, Richard Sennett, 17 was living with his parents, John and Elizabeth Sennett, a brother and a nephew in Meddybemps, Washington, Maine.[2]

On 18 Mar 1908, Richard Sennett of Meddybemps, married in Maine, Nellie M "Fenlaser" of Wesley, Maine, [3] Based on US Census records, Richard and Nettie had at least the following children:

  • Vivian E., b. ca. 1909
  • Goldie E., b. ca. 1910
  • Beatrice J., b. ca. 1913
  • Thelma F., b. ca. 1915
  • Margarete M., b. ca. 1919
  • Richard Harris, b. ca. 1924
  • Edith N., b. ca 1926

In 1910, Richard J. Sennett, a 27 year old farmer, lived Meddybemps, Washington, Maine, with his wife Nettie and two children.[4]

When he registered for the World War 1 Draft in Malden, Massachusetts, Richard said he was 36 years old, born on 12 Feb 1882. His permanent residence was Calais, Maine. He worked as a laborer for the Boston Rubber Shoe Co. in Malden. His nearest relative was his wife, Nettie May Sennet of Calais. He was of medium height and slender build, with blue eyes and dark hair.[5]

In 1920, Richard "Sennet," a farm operator, lived in Eastport, Washington, Maine, with his wife Nettie and five daughters.[6]

In 1930, Richard Sennett, a house carpenter, lived with his wife and 5 children in Calais, Washington, Maine.[7]

In 1940, Richard Sennett, a 58 year old carpenter, lived in Calais, Washington, Maine, with his wife and two children.[8]

All were born in Maine except Elizabeth, who was born in New Brunswick. John and Elizabeth have been married for 39 years, and Elizabeth has had 7 children, 3 of whom are living. Mark has been married for 9 years, but no wife is present in the household. He works as a sealer or dealer.
