Based upon her age in the 1850 census record, Susan SERGENT was born about 1840. She was the daughter of Andrew SERGENT. Her mother is believed to have been Mary Ann CISSONY[1], [2] who was her father's wife at the time of her birth. She passed away in 1914.
Her mother, Mary Ann CISSONY died when she was about 8 to 10 years old and her father remarried Elizabeth NOLAN on 6 November 1849 in Harlan County, Kentucky[3], [4]
Married to Elijah Green CLAY on either 20 December 1859 in Harlan County, Kentucky[5] or 15 May 1860 in Harlan County, Kentucky[6] another record lists the marriage, but the date is unclear as the record appears to have been damaged prior to microfilming. The readable parts of the record appear to indicate the marriage occurred on 15 [unknown month] in 1860.[7] Susan (SERGENT) CLAY's was enumerated in Elijah CLAY's 1860 census household[8] which had an official census date of 1 June 1860.
