DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:
My 5x great grandfather. He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Tomson) Sergeant(or spelled often as Sargent. b or bp 1744 and married Bethony Smallidge/Smalledge(often spelled different ways in records) in 1765. They had Sarah(Sally) Amelia Sergeant b,/bp 1766 Christ Church in Boston, Samuel b/bp 1768 and Thomas b, 1770(not baptised until the close of the War since the British took over the Church for Barracks opened back up I believe. Samuel the father was not listed on the baptism entry, presuming he was dead, but still found no record of either of the death's or burials of Samuel or Bethany after 1778 , He was believe to have drown off Long Island , off Boston Harbor. Was it during the Revolution or after, We have not learned. There is a Samuel Sergeant listed in a few Regiments, one being Cpt Joel Green, but no pension was drawn for his widow Bethony/Betheny if this was him.Still so many questions after 30 years of trying to uncover any documetnation on these two. Let me know if anyone can find them? Bethony was found listed in a Work house perhaps being indentured after Samuel the husband died. Probably had no means of income after Samuel died.
