Biography
Jeanne Serraplàa was born on 8 July 1881 at Lalinde (Dordogne). She was the daughter of Jean Serraplàa, coachman, and his wife Marie Roquejoffre, both living in Biarritz.[1] Although she preferred to be called Augusta, her official name was only Jeanne.
She migrated to the USA, arriving in New York in 1908.

She boarded the Titanic at Cherbourg as maid to Mrs William Carter. She travelled on the Carter's ticket (No. 113798) and shared a cabin with fellow Frenchwoman Berthe Leroy. Mrs Carter and Miss Serreplan were rescued in Lifeboat 4.[3]
Augusta reached New York aboard the Carpathia on 18 April 1912[4].
