Peter arrived at the Whitman Mission in Waiilatpu, the Oregon Country around the age of 16 with his parents and siblings late in 1846. They stayed 11 months, departing three days before the Whitman Massacre. The family settled in Linn in 1847.[6][7]
In 1850, Peter was living in Linn County, Oregon Territory with his parents and siblings.[2]
In 1860, Peter was farming with his wife, daughter, and Alfred Smith in Linn County.[3]
