Biography

Birth: Nov., 1873 Death: Jun. 18, 1913 Columbus Muscogee County Georgia, USA

1900 census shows him and both parents born in Georgia; 1910 census shows all in Alabama. Married ca. 1893 to Ella HOWARD. Heads a household at 876 Summit [?] Ave., just off N. Railroad St., Phenix City, Lee Co, AL - employed as a carder in a cotton mill. Heads household at 906 River St. in same place, 1910 - then a frame hand in a cotton mill. Father of nine children. See Lot note at Memorial # 26646927.

"GIRARD AND PHENIX CITY NEWS: DEATH OF MR. SEWELL // Mr. Robert G. SEWELL, aged 41 years, died at his residence, No. 628 Front street, Columbus, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The deceased was a zealous member of the First Baptist church, Third avenue, Phenix City, and a member of Phenix City Lodge I. O. O. F. No. 141 and is survived by his wife, and one daughter, Mrs. H. R. [? or B.?] HEWITT, of Phenix City, and five sons, Messrs. Elbert, Claud, Leonard, George and Willie Lee SEWELL. Two sister[s], Mrs. A. F. McKINNEY, of Texas, and Mrs. Katie MORGAN, of Columbus, Ga., one brother, Mr. W. M. Cooledge, Ga., all of whom have the deep sympathy of their many friends in their sad bereavement. The members of the Phenix City Lodge of I. O. O. F. No. 141 will meet at their lodge room and attend the funeral in a body. The funeral will be conducted from the late residence this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery."

"MR. R. J. SEWELL BURIED YESTERDAY // The funeral of Mr. Robert J. SEWELL was conducted from the late residence on Front street, Columbus, yesterday at 3:30 o'clock by Rev. James CARPENTER. The I. O. O. F. No. 141, attended the funeral in a body. Interment was in Pine Grove cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. L. HOOKER, W. L. HARRELL, J. J. HERRICKS, J. C. TOLBERT, C. H. KING and T. R. BOOTH."
