Biography

Chris Sexton lived in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

Christopher was born on September 8, 1842 in Campbell County, Tennessee. On December 17, 1849 part of Campbell County became part of Scott County, Tennessee. He was the son of Robert Sexton and Salina ( Keeton ) Sexton. The area where Christopher was born was named Homestead on July 27, 1859 some years later the name was changed to Helenwood. He married Sarah West in Scott County, later he married Nancy Phillips on January 17, 1868 in Scott County. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War, he served as a Private in Company F, 12th Kentucky Infantry. Christopher passed away on May 6, 1901 at Oneida in Scott County.
