Biography

Frederick married Polly Morgan on 26 December 1816 in Knox, Kentucky.[1]

In the 1820 census, Free was in Whitley, Kentucky. The household included 2 males under 10, 1 male 26-44, and one female 16-25.[2]

In the 1830 census Free was in Whitley, Kentucky. The household included 2 males under 5, 2 males 5-9, 1 male 10-14, 1 male 30-39; females 1 5-9, 1 20-29, and 1 30-39.[3]

On September 12, 1836, Free Sexson acquired 40 acres in Shelby County for $50 through the Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Sale program. The description was NWSW Section 09, Township 11N, Range 06E. [4] The corresponding federal land patent was dated 10 August 1838. He completed an additional federal land patent for a nearby tract on 10 August 1838. That description was NESW Section 08, Township 11N, Range 06E. The household of Free Sexson was not found in the 1840 census for Shelby County, Illinois.

Free died on 24 February 1843 and was buried in 1843 in Cochrans Grove Cemetery in Windsor, Shelby, Illinois.[5]

"On this day [March 31, 1843] it was represented to the Court of Probate that Free Sexton died intestate on or about the 24th of February 1843." "... therein do hereby appoint Polly Sexton admx and Perry Sexton administrator..." An estate sale was completed on 25 April 1843. On 5 May 1844, settlements were made, including distributions to the following "named persons," assumed to be heirs: [6]
