Ashbel Seymour was born in 1757 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut Colony to parents Daniel Seymour and Lydia King. He married, before 1792, Hannah Grant, of East Windsor, Connecticut Colony. They had two children, Anna (born 21 May 1792), and Clara (born 23 October 1794), both in Canton, Connecticut. He started a papermill in Troy, New York, and died there 23 September, 1795. (Since his second daughter was born in Connecticut in 1794, he could not have been in Troy very long before his death. [1]
