Ruth's date of birth is not known, but presumed to be about 1707 in Norwalk, CT, but perhaps in Ridgefield, as her father may have lived in Ridgefield for a time during the founding of Ridgefield from 1708-1710. [1][2]
Ruth married on 12 Jun 1729 in Ridgefield, to Jabez Smith of Milford. [3] Land Records, Town of Ridgefield, Volume 1, page 229 also record the marriage: ""Jabish Smith was married to his wife Ruth, ye daughter of Capt Matthew Seamore of Norwalk on June ye 12 1729."
It is interesting to note that Ruth's older brother, Matthew, and Jabez's older sister, Hannah, had married several years earlier in Ridgefield.
Ruth and Jabez had at least five children: Sarah, b 1730; Jabez, b 1731; Abraham, b 1733; Joel, b 1736; and Ruth, b 1737; all in Ridgefield. [4]
