Buford Clifford Shackelford was born on 11 January 1900 in Paw Paw, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma Territory, son of William Henry Shackelford (1876–1950) and Myrtle P Langford (1879–1958).

In 1910, Buford (10), was a single son, in the household of Henry Shackelford (33) in Paw Paw, Sequoyah, Oklahoma, United States. [1]

Buford registered for the draft for World War I. [2]

In 1920, Buford Shackleford (20), married was a son, in the household of W H Shackleford (42 years) in Paw Paw, Sequoyah, Oklahoma, United States. [3]

Buford (20) married Ida Mcminn (18) (born on 24 August 1902 in Arkansas, United States) on 24 December 1920 in Fort Smith, Sebastian, Arkansas, United States.[4] Their children were:
