Biography

Formerly a teacher, now an avid (obsessed?) genealogist. Proud member and office holder for Crane's Ford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and current applicant in both the Society of Daughters of Holland Dames via my direct great grandfathers Jan Wynantz and Cornelis Melijn and the Descendants of the Founders of New Jersey via my direct great grandfathers Ogden, Hatfield, Woodruff, Clark, Ross, Potter and Baldwin. In addition, I enjoy membership in the following genealogical organizations: National Genealogical Society, Pennsylvania Historical Society, New Jersey Historical Society, New England Historic Genealogical Society, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

And finally, as a family relative, it is my honor to serve as Grant Writer and Consultant for The Levi Cory House and The Deacon Andrew Hetfield House for the Mountainside Historical Restoration Committee, which I have recently been honored to be accepted as a member.

I do both paid and volunteer genealogical work and look forward to contributing to this community on WikiTree, now, as well.

Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?

Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:

For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies

Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hello Valeri!

Welcome to the New Netherland Settlers Project. Please visit our FAQ and feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you're looking for your ancestors that might already be on Wikitree, check out our Immigrants and Progenitors page, though it is not quite complete and does not reflect all of the profiles that already exist.

Cheers! Carrie

Hi Valeri!

Welcome to WikiTree! Be sure to take a look at the link in the email you just got. It has important information to help you get started. :-)

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

Confirm your email address, and you’ll be given an opportunity to fill in the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

Happy Hunting, Cindy
