Mary Ann Shafer was born 1842 in Indiana. She was adopted by Thomas and Catherine Humphreys. Mary A. Humphreys married Augustus Leiser July 28, 1855 in Etna, Hardin Co., Iowa. Mary Leiser passed away April 24, 1880 and buried at Hazel Green Cemetery, Ackley, Hardin Co., Iowa.
