Biography

Eva was born in April 21, 1766 in Pennsylvania, according to FamilySearch as the daughter of Henry Shaffer Keltner and Barbara Stapleton. [1][2]

Lewis Ellzey married Eva Shaffer in Virginia or Pennsylvania around 1788. [2]Lewis died in Pike County around 1834 and Eve died August 8, 1852 in Pike County. They are believed to be buried either in unmarked graves on family property or Silver Creek Baptist Church cemetery where they were members.

Louis Ellzey (of the noted Ellzey Cragg ... Eva Shaffer), a full blooded German, came to Pike Co, MS in 1817 from Fairfield District, South Carolina Married Eva Shaffer (of German extraction), in Virginia or Pennsylvania. Migrated to Pike Co, MS about 1818, settling on the Bogue Chitto River near what has been known as the Stallings Ferry. [3]

Louis Ellzey and Eva Shaffer Keltner were the perents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters.

Daughter, Elizabeth Ellzey married William Sibley. Her mother, Eva, was living with her in the 1850 Pike County. Estimated birth year: abt 1776, Age 84, Birth place: Pennsylvania, Gender: Female, Home in 1850, (City, County, State): Police District 3, Pike, Mississippi.

Eve Ellzey was received into the Silver Creek Baptist Church, by letter, in September, 1821.Lewis died in Pike County around 1834 and Eve died August 8, 1852 in Pike County. They are believed to be buried either in unmarked graves on family property or in the Silver Creek Baptist Church cemetery where they were members. [2]

Research Notes

The references list Eva's maiden name as Shaffer. However sources do not agree on the father's last name. FamilySearch shows it listed as Shaffer Keltner and Eva's Rootsweb source. [2][1]

Findagrave says her maiden name was Keltner, not Shaffer.

Eva Shaffer married Lewis Ellzey. Eva was the daughter of Barbara Stapleton and Henry Shaffer Keltner.
