Robert "Bobby" was not raised by his family. He was raised by Mrs. Mabel and Mr Robert Franklin Kratzer Sr, between New Berlin and Kratzerville, PA, on Tame Deer Rd. Bobby was the owner/operator of Shaffer Foods in New Albany for the past 30 years. He had been the Regional Sales Manager for Washington National Life Insurance Company where he received numerous awards. He was also the former owner/operator of Pasquales Pizza in Louisville, Kentucky.

Bobby proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693, American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28, and a former Kentucky Colonel.

Bobby was born on April 10, 1926 in Union County, Pennsylvania to the late Lester and Donna E. (Kratzer) Shaffer.

He is also preceded in death by his son, Barry Shaffer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Doris J. (Kaufmann) Shaffer; son, Randy Shaffer of Pekin; daughters, Jody Shaffer of New Albany and Sherry Sands of Southport, North Carolina; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

His visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM on Friday, October 17 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). A graveside service will take place at 1PM on Monday, October 20, at Montoursville Cemetery in Montoursville, Pennsylvania.
