Biography

Joan Shakespeare was born in Warwickshire, England.

Joan Shakespeare died young.

Joan Shakespeare was the first of eight children of John Shakespeare, glover, of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, and his wife Mary Arden.

She was baptised on 15 September 1558 at Holy Trinity, Stratford, and entered in the parish register as "Jone shakespere Daughter to John Shakspere."^[1][2]

She is thought to have died as an infant,^[3] possibly during the severe typhus and influenza epidemics of the late 1550s.^[2] John and Mary Shakespeare had another daughter baptised Joan on 15 April 1569.^[4][3]
