The Joseph Shakespeare who was born in Polesworth in 1817 and died at Atherstone in 1893[1][2] is probably not the same Joseph Shakespeare who married Ann Burbidge on 11 Jul 1842 in Birmingham[3]. In the 1851[4], 1871[5], and 1891[6]censuses , there are no spouses or children listed and he is never identified as married or widowed.
