MICHELAGO.

SUDDEN DEATH.

SENIOR-CONSTABLE BRADSHAW of Michelago- reported to the Coroner, through Senior-Sergeant Wood of Queanbeyan, on Saturday, the death that morning of Mr. Thomas Shanahanan old and highly respected resident, and a prominent member of one of Michelago's oldest families. The deceased gentleman had been ailing for years, though for some time past had not been personally attended by his medical adviser (Dr. Blackall) ; yet, however, he had been regularly supplied with medicines by, his doctor. Although unable to leave his house the deceased gentleman was not confined to his bed ; nor up to the time of his decease, had he shown any symptoms of his approaching end. Nevertheless, on Saturday morning he was found dead in his bed, having passed avay painlessly in his sleep. As there were no suspicious circum stances and considering his advanced years (76), Mr. Coroner Gale, on the death being officially reported to him, considered an inquest unnecessary, and issued his order for burial. The deceased has left a numerous grown-up family. The subject of this notice was born at sea, and came with his parents to Michelago, and, like his father before him, followed pastoral pursuits in that district. Amongst the pioneer settlers of the Queanbeyan district there are few names more prominent than the Shanahans. The late Mr. Thomas Shanahan of The Briars, Molonglo, and his cousin, the progenitor of the Michelago branch of the family (Mr. Denis Shanahan), were foremost amongst the early pastoralists of the Queanbeyan district. The funeral took place on Sunday last, the Rev. Father Conaghan officiating
