Biography
Mary was born in Arkansas, in 1901, in Washington County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Lofton) Shanks. She married Mack Abshier in 1922, in Washington County. (Her older sister, Annie, married Mack’s brother Eddie.) They had one child during their marriage. She died in 1988, in Whittier, California, at the age of 87. She is buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park, in Whittier, alongside Mack.
