James Marion Shannon was born in 1887. He was the son of Michael Shannon and Martha McKinney.
James married Martha Ellen Blanchard Oct 17 1910 in Mason County IL.
PVT James Shannon served in World War I or the "Great War". According to his headstone, he was assigned to 46th Infantry which was assigned to the 9th Division at that time. Sometime in Oct 1918, he was on his way home from WW1, on board a ship, when he got sick and passed away. He was only 31 years old.
He is buried next to his mother (Martha Louisa McKinney) and half Sister Mary Elizabeth (Hamilton) McDaniel in the Bethel Cemetery near Sadoria IL.
