Biography
John Shannon was born in 1755 in Hagerstown, Washington Co., Maryland. He was the son of John Shannon.
He married Jane Dunlap-270 on March 27, 1781. She was born between May 17, 1761 and 1766 in Maryland.

Micheners in America by Anna E. Shaddinger, published in 1958 by Charles E. Tuttle Co, Rutland, VT. Pp 407 and 408. John Shannon and wife Anne (maiden name unknown) were married in 1774. The Quakers at that time used a different way of figuring and writing dates. Isabella and George Michener were married the 7th day of the 10th month of 1805, so December 7, 1805.
There is also a family Bible owned by Isabella Shannon Michener who later married John Hayes. This lists her marriage to George Michener all of their children’s births
John Shannon is listed in multiple years as paying taxes in Bucks Co, PA (tax records on Ancestry.com). In 1781 that tax was a supply tax which qualifies him for Public Service as a DAR Patriot. He also served in the PA militia and with his brother, William, was excluded from membership in the Quaker fellowship due to his military service.
