Biography

Eliza was the daughter of John Sharp and Nancy Henion. She was born about 1824, and lived in Massena, N.Y.^[1] She married Albert Carter, and her son Lemuel Carter was born in 1852. The 1860 census shows Eliza Carter and Lemuel Carter living with Eliza's brother Philander Sharp in Massena.^[2]

• Documentation of marriage to Albert Carter has not yet been located. Death date needs documentation.
• Eliza appears to have been orphaned. Her father John disappears from census records after 1840; her mother was not accounted for in that census, presumably having already died by then. Eliza appears in the 1850 census with siblings Biana [Lovina Viana] and Henry Sharp, living adjacent to brother Philander Sharp.
