Nancy Sarah Jane Sharp was born on 19 November 1848 in Maysville, DeKalb, Missouri to John B. Sharp and Nancy C. Youngblood.
The 1850 U. S. Census for DeKalb, Missouri shows Nancy, 2, living with her parents, John, 28, and Nancy, 32, and four siblings: Peter, 10, Polly M., 8, Martha A., 7, and John N., 6.
The 1860 U. S. Census for Polk, DeKalb, Missouri shows Nancy, 11, living with her parents and xx siblings: Peter, 20, Martha, 17, John N., 15, Louisa, 6, and Matilda A., 4.
