Revolutionary War Service
James served as a private in the Rowan County Regiment, North Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary War. He served in the light horse service under the command of his brother, Captain Joseph Sharpe. He was in the Battle of Kings Mountain on Oct 7, 1780.
