Biography

James Sharpe was born in 1751 in Cecil County, Maryland. He died on Jul 22, 1828 in Iredell County, North Carolina.[1]

Parents:  Thomas Sharpe (1718 - 1785) and  Elizabeth Gillespie Sharpe (1722 - 1765)[2]   Spouse:  Jane Andrews Sharpe (1755 - 1849)[3]

James married Jane Andrews and they made their home on the north side of the Yadkin River near the Chipley Ford.

Revolutionary War Service

James served as a private in the Rowan County Regiment, North Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary War. He served in the light horse service under the command of his brother, Captain Joseph Sharpe. He was in the Battle of Kings Mountain on Oct 7, 1780.[5]
