(1987). A CENTRAL QUEENSLAND ATHLETE. LONDON, November 5. Mr. Sydney Macalister Sharwood, of Barcaldine, Central Queensland, won the prizes for the long jump and throwing the hammer in the competitions at the Cambridge University freshmen's Sports.

(1906). INQUEST. CHRISTIAN SCIENTIST'S DEATH. LONDON, Monday, 2.55 p.m.— At an inquest to-day on the body of Sydney Macalister Sharwood, brother of Mrs. Stephen Fairbairn, the evidence showed that he died In a London boarding house from fatty degeneration of the heart due to pernicious anaemia. The jury expressed regret that a doctor had not been summoned during his final illness. The evidence Indicated that deceased was a believer in Christian Scientist treatment, and that the people with whom he was boarding were of the same belief. [The cable probably refers to the wife of Mr. Stephen Fairbairn, the noted Victorian all-round athlete, who was a member of the Cambridge University crews which defeated Oxford in 1886 and 1887.]
