Biography

Della was born in 1849. She is the daughter of John Thomas Shaw and Caroline Culver. On the 1850 Census she is listed with her parents in Stewart County, Georgia^[1] and on the 1860 Census the family is listed in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana.^[2] In 1869 she married John J Goodwin (1841–1925):

They had at least five children: John W Goodwin (1870–1875), Thomas Franklin Goodwin (1871–1950), Leonidas C Goodwin (1874–1877) Dolla Goodwin (1878–Deceased) and David Byrd Goodwin (1880–1883). The couple are listed with three of their children on the 1880 Census in El Dorado, Union County, Arkansas.^[4] She passed away in September of 1883 at the age of 34 and is buried in the Wyatt-Parnell Cemetery in El Dorado, Union County, Arkansas.^[5]
