I have tested with FTDNA up to the Big-Y level. After testing with FTDNA, I have been in contact with multiple Shaws and Shea family members who share same Y-dna markers. The Shaws live in USA and the Sheas (O'Sheas) in various locations in Ireland.

My knowledge of my Shaw ancestors reaching back to 18th Century is based on family records and FTDNA (Y-dna testing). which seems to point to a certain connection with the Shea Clan in Irish Counties Clare and Kerry. The assumption I am working with is that there was a migration of members of the Shaw Clan from the Scottish lowlands to Uster, blending in with members of the Shea Family, and eventually an immigration to Colonial South Carolina occurred with a man we believe to be named John Shaw. 2 Shaw sons include a Jeremiah and Martin
