John Shaw married Mary Nicholson on 25 December 1874 in Belfast, County Antrim. Fathers Colin Shaw (labourer) and Hugh (?) Nicholson (deceased - labourer). Witnesses Eliza Jane Smith and Hugh ..?..

On 31 March 1901 the Shaw family lived in Renfrew Street, St. George's Ward, Belfast, Antrim. John Shaw (49) Carpenter and Mary Shaw (52) with John Shaw (17) Apprentice Carpenter, Sarah Shaw (14) & Alexander Shaw (10). Presbyterian ^[1]

When son Alexander Shaw married Theresa Arbuthnot in 1910, John was a carpenter living in Britannia Street.^[2]

On 1 April 1911 the Shaw family lived in Britannia Street, St. George's, County Antrim. ^[3] John Shaw (57) Carpenter and Mary Shaw (42) with Sarah Ann Shaw (22) Linen Weaver and Alex Shaw (20) Brass Maulder, all Presbyterian. Married 38 years, 2 children born & living.
