The rebellion was mostly because of the allocation of the land into Clergy Reserves--- large tracks of unworked land given to the Protestant Church. The British ended up winning and Upper and Lower Canada were united into the Province of Canada. However, according to the book This Green and Pleasant Land none of the local volunteers got within the sound of gunshot.
