Joseph was born in Ovenden in 1825 & baptised John Shaw, on 21 August 1825 Halifax, St. John the Baptist, Yorkshire the son of Joseph Shaw & Sarah.[1]
The marriage of John Shaw & Nanny Turner was registered in 1846, Halifax, Yorkshire. [2]
With wife Nancy & sons in 1851, living in New Bank, Northowram, Yorkshire. He worked as a wire drawer.[3]
In 1871, The family were living in Wheatley, Ovenden, Halifax, Yorkshire. He worked as a wire maunfacturer. [4]
Living in 1891, Hipperholme, Yorkshire with wife. [5]
