Biography
Katherine Shay was probably born in about 1817, based on the date of her marriage and her husband's age at the time of their marriage. She was probably the daughter of Isaac Shay, who was appointed guardian for her husband less than two weeks before their marriage.
Katherine Shay married James McCoy in Tazewell County, Illinois, on 4 February 1833.[1]
Katherine likedly died before 13 April 1843, when James McCoy married his second wife, Elmire Renner, in Tazewell County. According to various unsourced Ancestry family trees, she died on 2 November 1841, but the original source for this date is unclear.
